Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET)

Our in-house construction-phase field capabilities include soils, foundation, concrete, and structural steel observation/testing; noise, ground-vibration, and optical/movement instrumentation; and Special Inspections for projects where we typically have served as Geotechnical Engineer-of-record and/or as Environmental Professional.

Pons & Associates is a member in good-standing of the Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories (WACEL), and is a WACEL-accredited agency for field inspection (ASTM E329). Soil, concrete, and chemical analytical laboratory testing is provided through accredited laboratory partners. Structural steel inspection services are offered by our in-house certified welding inspector (CWI).  

Pons & Associates is approved to provide Special Inspections in the District of Columbia under the DOB’s Special Inspections Program (Certification No. 2015115); and has licensed engineers on Prince William County, VA’s list of approved Special Inspections Engineers of Record (SIER). Our licensed civil engineers have a record of over 25 years serving as SIER or Third-Party Special Inspectors in most other DC-metro jurisdictions including Loudoun County, VA; Montgomery County, MD; Prince George’s County, MD; Anne Arundel County, MD; and Fairfax County, VA.
