Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET)

Our in-house construction-phase field capabilities include soils, foundation and concrete observation/testing; noise, ground-vibration, and optical/movement instrumentation; and Special Inspections for projects where we typically have served as Geotechnical Engineer-of-record and/or as Environmental Professional.

Pons & Associates is a member in good-standing of the Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories (WACEL), and is a WACEL-accredited agency for field inspection (ASTM E329). Soil, concrete, and chemical analytical laboratory testing is provided through accredited laboratory partners. Structural steel inspection services are offered by certified welding inspector (CWI) technicians.  

Pons & Associates is approved to provide Special Inspections in the District of Columbia under the DOB’s Special Inspections Program (Certification No. 2015115); and has licensed engineers on Prince William County, VA’s list of approved Special Inspections Engineers of Record (SIER). Our licensed civil engineers have a record of over 25 years serving as SIER or Third-Party Special Inspectors in most other DC-metro jurisdictions including Loudoun County, VA; Montgomery County, MD; Prince George’s County, MD; and Fairfax County, VA.
