Environmental, Geotechnical Engineering & Facilities Consulting
Pons & Associates is capable of undertaking both routine "greenfield" geotechnical assignments and complex assignments in congested or "brownfield" settings. Our capabilities include concept- and planning-phase geotechnical subsurface investigations; design-phase support such as preparation of geotechnical specifications and drawings for excavations and foundations; retaining wall design; and construction-phase services, including Special Inspections, cost estimation, instrumentation, settlement monitoring, building condition surveys, inspection and monitoring, and soils and materials testing. Our specialty subsurface exploration partners have worked together with us for two decades based on a shared commitment to quality, responsiveness and client value.
Field/Laboratory Services - Our in-house construction-phase field capabilities include soils, foundation and concrete monitoring/testing, and noise/vibration monitoring for projects where we typically serve as the Geotechnical Engineer-of-record (GER) or Environmental Professional (EP). Soils and concrete laboratory testing services are offered through Advanced Geomaterials Testing Lab and other accredited laboratory partners. Pons & Associates is certified to provide Special Inspections in the District of Columbia under the DCRA's Third Party Inspections Program (TPIA Certification No. 2015115); and has licensed engineers on Prince William County, VA's list of approved Special Inspections Engineers of Record (SIER). Our engineers have a record of two decades serving as SIER in most other DC-metro jurisdictions in VA and MD.
